Hinckley Scavenger Hunt

Picture
Scavenger Hunt - December 31st deadline
Since we are unable to meet this month for our normal Christmas Party, the leaders have developed a Scavenger Hunt for the kids.  Attached is the document with 7 places for the kids to find in Hinckley.  Have the kids get their pictures taken in front of each location once they find it (there may be more than one right answer).  Please submit your pictures to your Den Leader by 12/31/2020.  Anyone that completes the Scavenger Hunt will have their name placed in a drawing to receive a $25 gift card.

The best way to find out what you do best is to do it.
     Swing a bat.
     Pitch a tent.
     Build a Pinewood Derby® car.
Cub Scouts are at the magical age where everything is new and possible and, most important, fun.
They live in a world of “firsts” — first home run, first campfire, first checkered flag — where their game plan is their imagination.
Their most valuable reward is the friends they make for life and a parent’s proud smile. These are invaluable experiences that can be had in Scouting.

Websites for additional scouting events and informatioN

The District and Council Websites we belong to (Chippewa District & Great Trail Council) have both recently updated their websites.  Both are a good source for upcoming events that you and your Scout can attend as an individual or with organize a group and attend.  These sites also have information about training, camping, round-table meetings, contacts, etc:

Chippewa District - they are the next level up in the Scouting organization. Monthly Roundtable meetings for Cub & Boy Scouts are held in Medina.  Any parent is welcome to attend.
http://www.chippewa-district.org/

Great Trail Council - this is who processes all registrations, runs the scout shop, provides training, helps answer questions, etc.  This is the level above the Chippewa District.
https://www.gtcbsa.org/

BSA website - provides a good overview of the scouting program
https://www.scouting.org/

Lake Erie Council - This is NOT our local council, but Scouts can still attend their events/camps.
https://lecbsa.org/

My Scouting - this the the site to access your and your scouts information and adult training.
https://my.scouting.org/

Scoutbook - This is a new site recently rolled out in our District.  We are testing it out as Den Leaders and Parents.  It provides a nice listing of the requirements by level and will keep track of your Scouts progress.

There is also a closed Facebook Group titled "Pack 3520 Hinckley Cub Scouts"

Every pack is under the supervision of a pack committee, which consists of at least three members (chair, secretary, and treasurer). By handling administrative and support tasks, the pack committee allows the Cubmaster and Den Leaders to focus on working directly with the Cub Scouts. Every Cub Scout parent is a member of the committee and is welcome and encouraged to attend the Leader/Committee Meetings. All parents are urged to attend for information and input on upcoming pack meetings and activities. These meetings allow for open discussion of the agenda for pack meetings and any upcoming special events. We look forward to seeing you there!!

We are in need of additional volunteers to assist with the Pack. Please come to our Leader/Committee Meetings to lend us a hand. Any little help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated. Our Leader/Committee Meetings are held at 7:00 PM the FIRST MONDAY of every month in the lobby of the Our Savior Lutheran Church (across the street from Hinckley Elementary School). (please reach out to a leader prior to coming just to make sure the meeting is as scheduled; rarely dates, times or locations change due to availability.

The Cub Scouts are comprised of a group of parent volunteers. The Cub Scout program can only run smoothly if all the roles are filled. Please help the pack by volunteering yourself for one of the positions. This is for our kids and it will make life lasting memories.
